South Carolina Angus Association Members,
We hope this letter finds you, your family and your cattle doing well. The past year saw us have to cancel the Carolina Angus Futurity for the first time in forty-nine years. Due to concerns regarding the pandemic, the health of our members and attendees, and the logistical issues inherent in hosting an event in these times, and the financial impact of potentially having to cancel our sale again this year on our organization, this year we have also postponed the Futurity. This year we will be having our annual meeting and banquet at a later date than the usual March date. We are currently looking into the option of hosting a joint banquet with the South Carolina Cattlemen’s Association this spring.

This winter saw strong sales at all four events featuring Angus cattle. Tokeena Angus in Seneca once again had a strong sale. Black Crest in Sumter had a great sale with the top selling bull, a Black Magic son, going to EBS Farm in Polkton, NC for $8,000. Clemson’s bull test also was excellent with bulls averaging $4,096, the top selling bull, a Deer Valley son, was consigned by Edisto Pines from Leesville, SC. And finally, Yon Family Farms had a fantastic sale with bulls averaging $5,685, and females selling very well also.

We are soliciting nominations for board members to both our membership and everyone else in the American Angus Association in South Carolina this year in an effort to build membership and create a more representative Association.

Inside this packet you will find a membership application, (feel free to ignore it if you have already paid) and a nomination form.

We’d like to ask everyone to fill out the membership application if you have not done so, as we would like to keep our membership contact information up to date.

We will be back in touch later this spring with ballots for our officer elections and updates on our annual meeting.
